BiographyRenee Porcellini, proprietor of Double S Stable, LLC, graduated from Temple University in 2003, Summa Cum Laude, with honors in psychology. Her focus of study was Cognitive Ethology, the fusion of cognitive science and classical ethology with an emphasis on observing animals to understand the evolution, adaption, causation, and development of species-specific behavior. She assisted in doctoral research observing interactions, facial expressions, and body gestures of Canids (wolves and dogs, specifically) to determine how recognizable their gestures and facial expressions are among their species and to our own. In addition to her academic studies, Renee also apprenticed with animal behavorists from 2001-2003. These unique opportunities have allowed her to continue to study animal behavior through a strong academic background rooted in practical observation and application. Renee also worked as a Docent at the Philadelphia Zoo where she learned a great deal about animal behavior while educating visitors and particpating in the zoo's Environtmental Enrichment Program. Based on her background in Schutzhund (a discipline of training through which working dog character traits are identified, refined, and utilized through police type work and/or competition), and work with Philadelphia legislators in regard to Canine Legislation, she assisted her local New Jersey law enforcement agency during the inception of their first K-9 unit in 2005. Renee's 20 years of riding horses, caring for and training animals, and her commitment in understanding animal behavior through human interaction has resulted in a life-long goal to enrich the relationship between horse and owner, alike. "For what the horse does under compulsion...is done without understanding; and there is no beauty in it either, any more than if one should whip and spur a dancer. There would be a great deal more ungracefulness than beauty in either a horse or a man that was so treated..."- Xenophon, c.400 BC Double S Stables, LLC Franklinville, NJ Secure and Private Facility Offering Quality Care for Horse & Owner Alike dolor sit amet Custom Tack Boxes & Stands eirmod tempor et dolore magna 856.697.0580215.783.8957 abrx11@aol.com Photo Gallery Copyright © Double S Stables, LLC 2010 All Rights Reserved 13 15This website was created using MAGIX Website Maker You will need the current version of Adobe Flash Player to view it.
