"From December, 2006, until October, 2007, I had the pleasure of boarding my horse Shane under the care of Renee Porcellini at Double S Stables in Franklinville, New Jersey. I am writing to wholeheartedly recommend Renee as barn manager. Renee is extremely knowledgeable. She is not only well-versed in all general aspects of horse care, but also has a deep understanding of equine behavior. After Renee worked with Shane to address his resistance to standing quietly for shoeing, Shane displayed a significant increase in his tolerance and respect. In addition, Renee suggested several oral supplements that were very effective for Shane, and I would not have discovered these supplements without her suggestion. Few barn managers are as knowledgeable as Renee when it comes to the total care of the horse. Renee is also extremely dependable. She managed Shane's shoeing appointments, and always had him in the barn and ready when the farrier arrived. On several occasions, Renee took time out of her weekend to meet me at the barn and work with Shane, and even on the weekends she was prompt and reliable. I never had to worry whether Shane was being fed on time or whether there were outstanding veterinary appointments--under Renee's care everything ran like clockwork. Most importantly, Renee truly cares for each horse's welfare. Renee treated Shane as though he was her own horse. If there was something he needed, she provided it--and never once stopped to worry about whether it was her obligation to do so. She was unendingly patient and kind with Shane, who is not always easy to deal with. The impact she had on Shane was evident, he respected her, looked to her for reassurance, and Renee's presence calmed him. I would trust her implicitly with the care of any of my horses. In sum, I cannot recommend Renee highly enough. She is as knowledgeable, dependable, and caring as any equine professional I have ever met.
